meet the cast
Here we are, the Mr. and Mrs. of below blue skies. We began dating in high school, continued throughout college, and got married right after graduation on July 7, 2007 – along with thousands of other couples. We just celebrated our third anniversary, but we still feel like newlyweds.
Scott just graduated from Law School (with honors – sorry I had to brag; he makes me so proud), and accepted a job as an associate at a small law firm in Spartanburg, SC – our new home. He is truly the love of my life, and my best friend. Now this man loves to read – even throughout law school with the countless hours of required reading for class, he would maintain his personal reading of at least one novel a week! He’s Coca-Cola’s biggest fan and probably accounts for 1/10 of Skittles’ overall consumption. Scott also loves to fly. He began earning his pilot’s license when we graduated from high school, so it’s on his list of things to accomplish before we pop out some babies. As I said before, he’s the love of my life and as we say in our house “the best in the land.”
I’m Melissa, and besides having a great husband, I have a great family who are in Columbia. I am a freelance graphic designer – and am most passionate about invitations. You can check out my web sites for graphic design here or invitations here, although I’m attempting to combine the two and re-brand here (but it’s a work in progress). I love to cook and bake and am always open to learning something new…like blogging.
Here is our first adopted fur baby. Russell was my first year Christmas gift – and he has truly been the best gift I’ve ever received. I love this guy! He has many cat tendencies, like loving a big window, sleeping most of the day and running around like he’s lost his mind in the middle of the night, but he also acts more like a dog than any other cat I’ve ever seen. He greets you at the door every time you come home, comes to you if you call his name and loves to chase his little toy ball. He’s a joy to have as a pet.
Meet Charlie, or Charles, as we call him when he isn’t behaving. He’s still a puppy – so he is mostly called Charles. He was Scott’s 25th birthday present this year, and he and I are still adjusting to one another. He is such a sweet puppy when he’s just waking up – but when he’s ready to play – he jumps and scratches you which drives me bananas. I can’t wait for him to grow up a little bit more and hopefully relax some. Till then, I’ll just enjoy his cute face: his greatest redeeming quality.
